SUPPORTING THOSE OF US WITH CANCER
Dedicated to meeting the needs of each individual.
The Sharon Spratt and Caroline Thomas Trust was founded in 1987 to honour the memory of Sharon Spratt (a former director of the Crane Kalman Gallery) and also her good friend and founder trustee of this charity, Caroline Thomas.
The Trust was set up primarily as a quick and easy to access point of call for those struggling with a cancer diagnosis and ongoing treatment. Most of the fund-raising is achieved through annual sales of Christmas cards, small art auctions every two or three years and generous donations by existing benefactors. Other than printing the Christmas cards and maintaining this website - every pound raised goes towards cancer relief. There are no salaries paid out to anyone.
More and more requests come through where individuals and families simply cannot make ends meet when a cancer patient has to stop working. So often the State simply does not give enough financial support and the suffering becomes unnecessarily intense. There are also many small things that can make a huge difference both materially and to a patient’s state of mind.
We are continuing to work closely with the Royal Marsden, many private care trusts and numerous hospices around the country where we endevour to meet each diverse request which range from enabling weddings and funerals, to organising holidays, trips to sporting events, household goods, financial support and family outings. We are still closely linked with the Teenage Cancer Unit at University College, a cause particularly close to Caroline’s heart.
